Mobs attack Muslims in the Kurunegala district, 100 km north-west of the capital Colombo on Monday in the biggest outbreak of violence circumstances after the easter attack bombings.

The incident occurred to an escalation of violence on Sri Lanka’s Muslim community, following the Easter attack.
The riots and mob lynching come in the wake of the Easter bombings.
The Sri Lankan police no doubt helping the keep the safety of Muslims, while the Police fired tear gas on the Mob damaging Muslims properties and wealth.
Several Mosques, shops, homes of Muslims were damaged after the riots. Muslim make up nearly 10 percent of Sri Lanka’s 22 million population who are predominantly Buddhists.
Abrar mosques in the town of Kiniyama that was attacked overnight. All the windows and doors of the Mosque were smashed and copies of the Quran were thrown onto the floor.
Mosques were inspected by the Mob as they claimed Muslims are hiding weapons in the mosques for further attack. The Muslims huddled in the mosque asked the police to fire in the air to disperse the mob, but the police said that the people wanted to search the mosque for weapons.
The mob now enter the masjid and ransacked it, the witness said:
“They destroyed and burned Qurans, broke every glass window and door and urinated on the water storage which Muslims used to take ablution”
