The flag bearer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr John Dramani Mahama, on Thursday, 24 October 2019 visited some communities decimated by torrential rains in the Upper East Region.
Almost 30,000 people, including children, have been rendered homeless, with 29 people confirmed dead from the rains and accompanying floods that flattened earthen homes and inundated farmlands.
During the visit, Mr Mahama consoled those who lost relatives, sympathised with the families displaced by the floods, and presented some relief items to support the communities in Chiana-Paga, Navrongo, Builsa South and Builsa North.
Accompanied by national, regional and constituency executives of the NDC, Mr Mahama also paid courtesy calls on the chiefs and elders of the various communities.
