Man Arrested for Spitting on Police

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker after allegedly spitting at police.

 

Officers in Leicester were called at 6.35pm on Good Friday to a report of man carrying a small metal pole. The suspect was reportedly trying to open car doors, asking for money and had been seen spitting.

 

As Leicestershire Police showed up to the scene by Tesco Express and arrested the man, the say he spat at officers despite safety concerns over coronavirus.

 

Appealing for witnesses, Sergeant Ben Widdowson said: ‘We believe there were several members of the public in the vicinity, in particular at the Tesco Express, who may have seen what happened and could assist greatly with our investigation
