When Will Jean Mensah Respond To Our Petition On Techiman South? – Okudzeto Ablakwa Fumes

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency in the Volta Region has descended on the chairperson of the Electoral Commission in relation to a 6-page petition sent to her outfit by the minority in Parliament.

The minority in Parliament embarked on a march to the office of the EC to present a petition over the Techiman South parliamentary results. Led by the minority leader; Haruna Iddrisu, none of commissioners did not turn up to receive the petition.

Later in the day, the petition was sent to the EC’s office by a courier service which the chairperson acknowledged receipt of the petition and promised to respond within the shortest possible time.

Techiman South’s parliamentary elections have been in the news owing to the killings of citizens by the security personnel during the collation process. The EC declared the seat for NPP’s candidate but the opposition NDC demands a re-collation because the returning officer declared with an unknown collation sheet.

In a post sighted on the Facebook post of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament has indicated that the conduct of Madam Jean Mensah is clearly not the standard expected of public officers under Article 296 of the 1992 constitution.

He further indicated that, the commission assured the minority caucus of expediting the process of studying the content of the petition and getting back to them within the shortest possible time, but it’s one week already without a reply.

This was not her attitude when the NPP petitioned on Banda and secured a three re-collations, he bemoaned.

Will she respond respond after swearing-in? He quizzed.
