“What the Electoral Commission is doing is a perfect recipe for disaster”- Sam George

The Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram constituency, Sam George has described the conduct of Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa as disastrous and could spell doom for the democracy of Ghana.

“What the Electoral Commission is doing is a perfect recipe for disaster”.He made this known during the third in series of demonstration dubbed ‘Wokpenee’ on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at the principal streets from Kawukudi a suburb of Accra.

He argued on the issue that, “Until the 18th April, the EC has not started and so we are saying that it will not happen, not in this country because the EC is not a law unto herself”.

The MP for Ningo Prampram, therefore, cautioned against the actions and conducts of the Electoral Commission as well as the indifference in discussions concerning its decision to compile a new voters’ register for the 2020 elections, since its actions and conducts is a threat to the democracy of the country.

“When disaster hits this country, it will affect every single one of them in their high offices. It’s not going to be just the grassroots” he cautioned.

He ended by calling on the various the peace council, the Christian charismatic council, the council of churches, the chief imam office, the traditional rulers, national house of chiefs, to speak out against the intended compilation of a new voter’s register by the Electoral Commission in order to provide a level playing field for all political parties in the country so that the country will not be plunged into a state of anarchy and despair because of the “irresponsible/political” actions of the Electoral Commission.

In addition, Sam George stated that “There is no justification and they have not been able to give justification. Every well living Ghanaian who is worried about the peace and stability of this country must call out the EC because what the EC is doing is a perfect recipe for disaster”

“Everyone of them will pay because if the EC says she is going to complete the compilation of the register on the 8th November, less than a month to the conduct of the general election, where do you hear this? I mean this is a perfect recipe for disaster”, he emphasized.
