We’ll soon demonstrate at Jubilee House for our community development – Enyan Abaasa Chiefs and residents

Chiefs and residents of Enyan Abaasa in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region have expressed disappointment over what they say is neglect by the government in terms of development in the area.

On behalf of the Chiefs in the Enyan Abaasa Community, the Gyaasehene of Enyan Abaasa Nana Kojo Okyere IV in an interview with Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan said though the Enyan Abaasa Community has been contributing to the development of the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District in terms of paying of market levy, the town lacks many developmental projects.

According to the Chief, during the 2016 campaign time, politicians promised to construct the Enyan Abaasa road leading to Enyan Nkodwo which is in a terrible state and has been described as a death trap and actually asked for an estimated cost which was given, but nothing was done.

The Chief said they have given the government two months to come and start all the abandoned projects in the Enyan Abaasa Community else the entire Community will storm the Jubilee House to demonstrate to fight for development, damn the consequence of their action.

Nana Kojo Okyere said there are three toilet facilities that were started during the election campaign time and have been abandoned in a bush causing financial loss to the state. He believes this was started to win their vote.

“The excavators and tipper trucks the contractor was using to construct the road from Enyan Abaasa to Enyan Main, Enyan Onyaadze and Enyan Nsaawadze have been abandoned at the Enyan Abaasa Methodist School park. Enyan Abaasa is really active in terms of communal labour and fighting for their development with their own money but politicians have created obstacles for such initiatives”

He noted the community has been able to provide their own Health Center, Technical School, Ambulance for their Hospital without the government support yet politicians go there and deceive them to win their votes.

In addition, the Assembly Man for the area Hon. Rashid Alhassan Jawura also lamented that several letters have been written to the District Assembly for developmental support but has not yielded any results.

He charged the District Chief Executive to make sure that he has completed all the abandoned projects he started during the Election Campaign time.

“The NPP government during the campaign time promised the community to give us ultramodern toilet facilities, proper roads but non of these promise have been fulfilled by government” the Assembly Man added.

He also said, the government promised them an AstroTurf field but that’s yet to be constructed.
