We Will Stage A Coup If E-Levy Is Passed – Market Woman Threatens Akufo-Addo [Video]

The women expressed their discontent with the yet-to-be-implemented taxation scheme in a popular video when Adom Channel interviewed some women at a marketplace about the E-levy.

Last year, the finance minister unveiled the Electronic Transaction Levy Tax during his presentation of the 2022 budget to lawmakers. According to Ken Ofori-Atta, the 1.75 percent tax will apply to all electronic financial transactions exceeding 100 cedis, including inward remittances.

But these women aren’t having it, claiming that the e-levy will just exacerbate the country’s already dire situation.

They decried the inadequate educational system, lower market patronage, and rising petrol prices, among other things, while blaming President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for everything.

“Akufo-Addo has brought the New Patriotic Party to its knees. We had no idea this old man could lie in such a way. Where did this E-levy come from? He couldn’t do anything to improve the economy after collecting all of the loans. “You’ve already sent our children home from school, and our businesses are no longer striving,” one of them complained.

“Nana Addo is a liar,” one person who believes the president’s campaign messages are based on lies claimed. Everything he said about Mahama was a falsehood in order to gain the president. He stated that if he is elected to the government, he will lower fuel prices. Is lying acceptable for a grown man like him? What exactly does this imply?

Although military coups are normally carried out by soldiers, one of the merchants claimed in a viral video that the e-levy is the final straw for them and that they wouldn’t mind if they (market ladies) plotted a coup to oust the president rather than the soldiers.

“We, the traders, will conduct a coup if the E-levy passes.” We’re not going to let the military plot a coup. “We, the market women, will take care of it,” stated the plainly irritated woman.

Meanwhile, since its announcement, the E-levy has been met with opposition from stakeholders and the general public, resulting in a parliamentary back and forth.
