We Can No Longer Afford Kokonte Under Akufo-Addo’s Government – Drivers Cries

Ghanaian commercial driver, Obaapa Papa has indicated that ‘kokonte,’ also known as ‘face the wall,’ is no longer affordable for Ghanaian commercial drivers.

He complained on Rainbow Radio Frontline that the country’s economic burden is intolerable, and that drivers are fighting to provide for their families.

He claims that the repeated increases in fuel prices are having a negative impact on their operations because they are unable to earn a profit.

He informed host Kwabena Agyapong that the current scenario is difficult, and that cab drivers are the hardest hit by the economic downturn.

He claimed that after paying their automobile owners, they are left with nothing, and that if the problem is not handled, some of them may be unable to care for their families.

He chastised politicians for making promises on fuel prices that they couldn’t maintain, and urged them to be honest with the public and stop taking them for a ride.

He claimed that the high and intolerable cost of living faced by Ghanaians is largely due to periodic increases in the price of petroleum goods.
