Anti-corruption crusader, Kelvin Taylor has challenged the Volta Region caucus in Parliament to come up with a new approach to acquire funding to finish the abandoned E-block school in Afloa.
The outspoken journalist explained on his Loud Silence Show (on October 29) that the GoFundMe account is aimed at soliciting funds from the public, especially indigenous people from the Volta Region, to complete the project as a way of accepting the challenge that President Nana Akuffo Addo threw to the chief of Afloa, Torgbe Fati, to complete the E-block in his traditional area if he fess up to the challenge.
Many Ghanaians, particularly those from the Volta Region, were not pleased with Nana Addo’s response to Torgbe Fati on the delay in the completion of the E-block school during an interview with Kwame Sefa Kayi as part of his visit of the Greater Accra Region.
In line with this, a coalition of Volta Region Members of Parliament led by Dzifa Gomashie has demanded an unconditional apology from President Akufo-Addo, as well as pledging to use their clout to secure funding to construct the E-block school in Afloa.
Despite his support for the Members of Parliament’s initiative to build the school, Kelvin Taylor expressed concern about how the MPs intend to raise the funds.
According to him, if MPs want to show their voters that they care about the E-block school in Afloa, they should give up a portion of their income to help fund the project. He went on to say that Members of Parliament should organize their constituents to take to the streets to protest Nana Addo’s remark to the Chief of Afloa.
