A teacher with the Ghana Education Service in Kassena-Nankana Municipality of Upper East Region has been forced by authorities to apologise for being benevolent.
The Teacher, Kampoe Desmond sacrificed his meagre teaching salary to procure and distribute nose masks and face shields to pupils he teach at Naaga Primary school.
His act of benevolence went viral after pictures were shared on social media where followers commended him while lambasting authorities for doing less in supporting such underprivileged schools on the fight against COVID-19.
However, this kind gesture by Mr. Kampoe has incurred the wrath of both political and GES authorities to coerce him to publicly apologize.
His action has been considered “offensive” and inciting.
He has since published an apology on his Facebook handle.
APOLOGIES TO ALL AFFECTED
It would be recalled that in January 2021, a photograph of Naaga Primary School pupils who received a donation of face shields and other PPEs from me went viral on social media.
It attracted several comments with some making references to a previous post that I shared in December 2020, seeking to get furniture for the same pupils.
I admit that some of the comments were unpleasant and offensive to the indigenes of Naaga in particular and political leaders in general. I take full responsibility for that.
I, therefore want to render an apology to the indigenes of Naaga and all other persons who felt slighted by the post and related comments.
I want to state without any equivocation that I had no intention to ridicule, shame or project a bad image of the Naaga Community but was only passionate about addressing pertinent challenges of the school.
I had the opportunity to meet some opinion leaders of Naaga and wisdom, understanding and peace prevailed.
Let me use this medium to appeal to friends, supporters, and the general public to refrain from making further offensive comments on this issue that may inflame passions and derail good relationships established.
