Six journalists involved in accident at Akyem Oda

Six Journalists in the Eastern region escaped unhurt following an accident on the Akyem Oda – Akyem Asene road.

The accident occurred Wednesday evening on Adim River when the journalists were returning from a press conference at Akyem Akokoaso in the Akyemansa District of the Eastern Region amidst a heavy rainfall.

The Journalists onboard a private Toyota Matrix were Neil Nii Kenaku, Eastern Regional Correspondent for Citi FM/Citi TV, Michael Akrofi, Eastern Regional Correspondent for Peace FM, Jessie Amankwah of UTV, Kojo Ansah, Eastern Regional Correspondent for EIB Network, Kwasi Azor, Eastern Regional Correspondent for Adom FM/Adom TV and Emmanuel Pacome of Daily Graphic.

According to sources, the driver lost control of the steering wheel after swerving a pothole.

The vehicle staggered and veered off the road, violently turned to the opposite side as it dragged towards the river but was blocked by a huge pipeline and dangled on the edge of the bridge.

The traumatized Journalists quickly rushed out of the car to safety as residents trooped to the scene to their rescue.

Although none of the Journalists was injured, the story would have been different if the car had plunged into the river.
