PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS
(NDC) – ASAWASE CHAPTER ON THE FALSEHOOD BEING SPREAD BY
THE NPP THAT HON. MUNTAKA SLAPPED A LAD

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen of the ink fraternity.

We welcome and thank you for honoring our invitation despite the short notice.
We have become aware of a fabricated audio being circulated in the media and originating
from a pro-NPP radio station (ASH FM) in Kumasi, wherein there is a false claim by one NPP
lady that our honorable member of parliament (Hon. Muntaka Mubarak) had slapped or
assaulted her; a very laughable drama put out there but needs to be addressed head-on with the
facts of the matter, so that people would not fall into believing the fabrications and falsehood
contained in that audio.

Ladies and gentlemen, we want to put on record that our member of parliament (Hon. Muntaka
Mubarak) had no encounter with that dramatizing lady, especially as a lawmaker and a public
figure who has always been protecting and defending the rights of the female; the reason why
he is widely adored by majority of the women within his constituency.

For the avoidance of doubt ladies and gentlemen, we would want to present to the notice of the
public the up-to-account detail of what happened at the scene and the chronological fabrication
by the NPP in their failed attempt to denigrate our honorable MP;
The NPP’s lady in that fabricated audio made mention of an allegation that our MP
brought a certain young girl to allege that people were being registered at a secret
and undesignated venue within the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly, and
she (Zainabu as called) decided to unmask that young girl hence the slaps from
Hon. Muntaka”; what a cock and bull story?

The “young girl” as referred to by the NPP’s dramatizing lady, was part of the new
voter ID applicants whose information was alleged to have been captured at an
undesignated venue created within the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly for
their photographs to be taken at designated center later in the day.
 The “young girl” as referred to by the NPP’s lady, was alleged to have said she had the
recordings of whatever transpired at that undesignated registration venue.
 We decided not to speak about that allegation until when the authenticity of such had
been established; a development that necessitated a meeting between ourselves (the
NDC), the NPP, the Municipal Police Command and the officers of the Electoral
Commission – Asokore Mampong and luckily, the regional Police Operations’
Commander was also present at that meeting.

the NPP was duly represented by their constituency chairman and other executives whiles those of us in the NDC featured our MP (Hon. Muntaka Mubarak), the
constituency Chairman (Alhaji Mutum) and two other members with the Municipal EC
officer and her deputy representing the EC just as the Municipal Police Commander
and the Regional police operations’ commander being witnesses to the meeting.

After that meeting and immediately as the “young girl” who came out with the
supposed allegation stepped out of the EC’s office in the company of our MP (Hon.
Muntaka), our constituency chairman and participated executives, the Municipal police
commander, this NPP lady in the fabricated audio rushed to slap the girl who
hinted on that secret registration and was trying to unmask her for their people to
identify who she was as they promised dealing her (the informant).

 Our Constituency chairman (Alhaji Mutum) rushed to prevent her from unveiling the
masked “informant girl”, at a time when the MP had pulled the girl to him.

whichSuddenly, the NPP’s organizer for the constituency by name Rashid threw a chair
targeting Hon. Muntaka, which unfortunately ended up on the forehead of Alhaji
Mutum (our chairman) and had since affected his eye amidst a swollen forehead.

The NPP’s organizer called for the chairs and stones to be pelted at Hon Muntaka and
our Executives; a situation that caused the Municipal Police commander to rush them
back into the Electoral Commissions office.

The MP’s car was avoidably stoned at and suffered some damages but had to be sped
away from the scene; a development that got escalated when our party members heard
of the attacks being visited on our MP and Executives.

Rashid (the organizer of the NPP) was leading for vehicles belonging to our party to be
smashed as our party members closer to the scene were beaten up until the
reinforcement from the camp of the NDC arrived – these you can crosscheck from the
police commanders in front of whom the above stated scene happened.
Ladies and gentlemen, is it not surprising that after the NPP and its supporters had initiated
chaos with their avoidable attacks of the informant, the NDC executives and the MP (Hon.
Muntaka) who were protected and later reported the incidence to the Asokore Mampong police
station for an official complaint, the NPP vigilante group members and party recruited

[7/3, 4:50 AM] Daily Sniper: Setting the records straight ladies and gentlemen and we are sure you would report exactly
what we are presenting;

Ladies and gentlemen, is it not surprising that after the NPP and its supporters had initiated
chaos with their avoidable attacks of the informant, the NDC executives and the MP (Hon.

station for an official complaint, the NPP vigilante group members and party recruited

An incident that happen while at the police station.
Would you imagine ladies and gentlemen that our communication officer by name Yakubu
Adamu (a.k.a Tony Aidoo) was physically abused and slapped by a member of the NPP’s

vigilante group, at the police station with no action taken by the police due to the threats given
them by members of the ruling NPP party?; We have the videos of that attack which are readily
available for the consumption of the public.

Again, ladies and gentlemen, some members of the NPP’s vigilante groups wielding guns and
led by one Ibrahim (a.k.a IB INTERNATIONAL) went to the house of our constituency
chairman that same eventful night, with the intention of harming him; an attempt that failed
because at that same time, the chairman was at the Mampong police station and had duly
reported such incident.

Would you not be surprised ladies and gentlemen, to know that the drama contained in the
fabricated audio was cooked right at the police station when one Alhaji Abuba (the NPP
constituency organizer for Manhyia South), was coaching and videoing the uncultured
Zainabu on how to present herself and dramatize, to claim that Hon. Muntaka assaulted
and slapped her; at a time when our party executives and some sympathizers were writing
their statements, the pro-NPP ASH FM had granted an interview with the fabrication that Hon.
Muntaka had slapped and assaulted that lady; an audio that many media houses have since been
publishing, hence our resolve to present the case as it happened.

It is unfortunate that after our people have been assaulted and injured just as some vehicles
belonging to our party and members including that of our MP were vandalized, the central
police command would seek to arrest our Constituency Treasurer when the perpetrators of the
crime, illegality, damages and disturbance are moving out there without being invited by the
police; what a banana republic Ghana has been turned into, under President Akuffo Addo.

Ladies and Gentlemen, is it not ridiculous that the Police ended up leveling sixteen (16)
different charges against our Constituency Treasurer, who is being purported to have fought
sixteen (16) different people simultaneously and at the same time vandalized vehicles
belonging to NPP faithfuls, what a Chinese movie it was?
This goes to vindicate the concerns we raised as a party in our petition to the Electoral
Commission dated 29th May, 2019, where we hinted on the possibility of insecurity and
confusion due to the presence of all interested parties at the centralized registration center; a
situation that would have been avoided if centres were decentralized at the various electoral
areas.

We wish to once again establish that Hon. Muntaka had no direct encounter with that
“uncultured NPP lady, who has been trained and coached to dramatize in the audio as
haven been slapped and assaulted by our MP, as we urge the media to act more
professionally by cross-checking their facts before feeding the public because some of you had
resorted to presenting a different case (falsehood) all together.

May we use this opportunity to commiserate with our members who suffered injuries, had their
vehicles vandalized with their mobiles phones, monies and motor bikes stolen during the
avoidable attacks by the NPP and assure them that no amount of intimidation by this
government, the police and the NPP’s vigilante groups would make us turn our backs on them.

We shall continue to protect the sanctity of Ghana’s democracy, the rights of people to be
registered and our fundamental rights to justice.
No amount of lies, falsehood and fabrications heaped or linked to the personality of our
hardworking and impeccable MP (Hon. Muntaka Mubarak) would make the good people of
Asawase constituency vote for the NPP!
We are with and for Hon. Muntaka Mubarak and Asawase shall remain with and for him in
shaa Allah.
Long live Ghana!
Long live Asawase constituency and long live Hon. Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak!!!
Thank you once again for coming and we hope our piece would be given a fair reportage as we
count on your professionalism.
Signed
Mugis Mahdi
