President Akufo-Addo tours Ashanti Region today

President Akufo-Addo ended his tour of the Bono Region yesterday

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will begin his three-day official visit to the Ashanti Region today,”.

This follows his successful tour of the Bono Region from Monday, October 07, 2019 to Tuesday, October 08, 2019.

The President will, this morning, pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfou Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace before he officially commences his tour of the Ashanti Region.

The tour forms part of the President’s commitment to deepen grassroots participation in his government and to also obtain first-hand information from the people.

The President is also expected to use the occasion to apprise himself of critical developmental issues in the Region and communicate to the people plans undertaken by his government to resolve the issues confronting them.

The visit will also afford the President an opportunity to account for his stewardship to the voters who gave him the mandate to govern the country and also inspect ongoing projects in the Region.

The President is expected to end his three-day tour of the Ashanti Region on Friday, October 11, 2019 after which he will visit the Eastern Region to climax his tour of the three regions.

During his two-day tour of the Bono Region, the President outlined a number of developmental projects and initiatives undertaken by his government to advance development in the region.

At a meeting with some Paramount Chiefs and Queen Mothers in the Bono Region at Sunyani last Monday, President Akufo-Addo reiterated his commitment to broaden access to the Free Senior High School Programme to benefit all irrespective of their backgrounds and statuses.

He also gave an assurance that the rehabilitation of the Sunyani Airport will be completed by the end of the year.

Addressing students of the Sunyani Senior High School, President Akufo-Addo charged final year students in the various Senior High Schools across the country to pass next year’s WASSCE exams with distinction to make a strong case for measuring the productiveness of the Free SHS Programme.

At Sampa yesterday, the President assured the chiefs and people in the area that their request for a future training college, a girls hostel for the nursing training college and a satellite campus for the University of Energy and Natural Resources will be looked into.
