A staunch member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister Joseph Yammin has described President Akufo Addo as a hypocrite, untruthful and a security threat to the country for saying the voters’ registration exercise was successful.
“The biggest security threat to the country is President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and the NPP”, he told Yaw Nimako on Pure Fm in Kumasi.
Mr Joseph Yammin’s attack on the President comes as a response to Nana Addo’s remarks on the just-ended voter registration exercise which the President categorically stated that the exercise was peaceful and a successful one.
According to Mr. Yammin, it is wrong and deceitful on the part on President Akufo-Addo to ignore the violence that characterized the exercise in some parts of the country.
At least one person was reported dead during the registration exercise in Banda Ahenkro in the Bono Region.
Meanwhile in the Central Region, the Minister for Special Development Initiative Madam Mavis Hawa Koomson also fired gunshots at a registration centre disturbing the process as EC officials fled the scene.
But during his discussion on Pure Fm, Joseph Yammin took on the first gentleman of the land saying “If President Akufo-Addo could stand in the Ashanti Region and say everything went on peacefully and successful then we have a problem having him a president”.
To him, Ghanaians will vote the Nana Addo government out should elections be held any moment.
Mr. Yammin also argued that, if the President could send a commiseration message to George Floyd and go ahead to instruct the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to hold a funeral for him, why can’t he use the same manner to send similar message to the person who was allegedly killed by NPP supporters during the voter registration exercise in Banda.
