Assembly Member for Prestea-Hemang Electoral Area, Hon Alex Barko (aka Abroso), has begun construction of a four-unit classroom block for Addeakyesika Primary School in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality.

According to him, this is to fulfil his campaign promises made to the people of Addeakyesika prior to the 2019 District Assembly Elections.

The school was built with clay and wood by the residents of Addeakyesika through communal labour.

This, he raised heavy capital to give a facelift to the school, which for years was forced to cope with dilapidated infrastructure.

The assemblyman after visiting the project expressed happiness about the quality works of the contractor and appealed to them to fast track it completion.

Speaking on the project, Hon Barko, said; “I made a lot of promises during my campaign, and I assured to honour my campaign promises within two years. Their school building was in a bad state, so I promised to get them a new facility to ease their burden,”

“I have started the construction of a four-unit classroom block with office and store which would be completed soon for the residents of Addeakyesika,” he stressed.

However, he chastised that all those who plotted his downfall, but he would prove them wrong as he has vowed to step down after his first term.

“Several peoples campaigned against me, described me as illiterate and therefore ask electorates to vote against me. They claimed I would stand against Education, but I have a genuine thought to improve the sector in my electoral area,” he opined.

Meanwhile, Hon Alex Barko indicated that there is ongoing construction of classroom block and community centre in the Cocoa Shell community and many other places.
