Paying huge Amount of money to road Advocates doesn’t make sense – GPRTU CHAIRMAN

The GPRTU chairman in at sofoline lorry Terminal in the kwadaso municipality of Ashanti region says govt should avoid paying huge sum of cash to national road safety commission and also road Advocates and ambassadors to educate drivers.
Because, after been educated, they don’t find what they were thought on the road.

I’m appealing to Akuffo Addo to redirects the money been used to pay road ambassadors to fix the difficulties on the road such as road signs to help reduce road accidents. He vocalized.

According to him, the major causes of accident in Ghana is poor road infrastructure and lack of maintenance.
Ghana highway authority, department of feeder roads , department of urban roads in ghana have decided not fix the road but when accident occurs, then police will jump into conclusion to blame driver but police will not check what it how the accident came about.

Also, politicians should allow MTTD police to use the traffic regulations during their road checks.
The fear and interfearance of politicians has paved way for police to take money from drivers, because when they thwart a perpetrator, this politicians comes in to pressure the police to release that vehicle.

However, due to that, police relax on the road and do what ever they like which is really affecting some of us .

*UNION*
The police should enforced the road traffic regulation law in the LI 2180 regulation 121 and 128
No:2 which indicates that , A person shall not operate as a commercial vehicle driver unless the person identity employed by or belongs to a recorgnise commerical road transport organization

*LI 2180 regulation 128*
1. The licensing Authority shall not register a Motorcycle or a tricycle to carry a fare paying passenger

2. A person shall not use or permit a Motorcycle or a tricycle over which that person exercises control to be use for commercial purposes except for courier and delivery services

*TRANSPORT OPERATIONS*

All transport operators should be changed on each accident if the source is from their outfit.
Especially; overloading, lack of vehicle checks before leaving the lorry Terminal.

Lack of checking overage tyres.

Lack of checking unlicensed drivers.

Moreover, if these advocacy will be taken into consideration, road accidents will reduce drastically
