Otumfuo charity Foundation signed MoU with British council.

British Council, the United Kingdom’s International Organisation for Education opportunities and cultural relations has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Charity Foundation to work together in the areas of Education and cultrure for the development of Ashanti region and beyond.

For over 70 years, the British Council has sought to develop and improve relations between the United Kingdom and Ghana through programmes and projects that extend across a broad range of cultural, technical, educational, developmental, professional and personal development activities.

As an umbrella organisation for development programmes of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Charity Foundation has been improving the lives of Ghanaians for almost a decade in areas such as education, health, cultural heritage and water & sanitation.

The British Council and Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Charity Foundation seek to leverage the aforementioned strengths to provide Ghanaians with opportunities to address their needs and that of their communities.

According to a press release which was issued to GHANAWISH.COM will collaborate in four areas; Art and Culture; Education; Otumfuo Osei Tutu II 20th Anniversary celebration and Events.

Beyond these, the two organisations according to the release will explore and work on other initiatives aimed at building strong relationship between the British Council and the Manhyia Palace.

Addressing the media before the signing of the MOU at Manhyia Palace, Executive Director for the Foundation Dr. Thomas Agyarko-Poku said that the Charity Foundation seeks the well-being of the citizenry by supporting quality education, health delivery services, provision of portable water, good sanitation and the promotion of the rich cultural heritage of Ashanti Kingdom.

H.E Tom Hartley who is the Deputy High Commissioner for United Kingdom during the briefing said: ” The UK and the Ashanti Kingdom have strong historic ties, deep people to people connections, share common values and rich culture for generations”. He said he was pleased that the Council has partnered with the Foundation .

Her Royal Majesty Lady Julia who was present during the occasion expressed gratitude and thanked the Council for entering into partnership with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Charity Foundation.

Present during the occasion was the hardworking Mayor for Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Hon Osei Assibey plus the board of Directors of the foundation.
