Okudzeto Ablakwa Proposes ‘Brand Ghana’ Post To Help Adwoa Safo Quit Local Politics

President Akufo-Addo should relieve his colleague MP for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, of her ministerial responsibility, according to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a Member of Parliament for North Tongu.

According to Ablakwa, Adwoa Safo – who has been missing from Parliament since December 2021 – would benefit from being appointed as an Ambassador-at-Large to improve Ghana’s tarnished image.

While admitting that his suggestion was “pretty hilarious” in a social media post dated May 7, 2022, the Ranking Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament questioned if it wasn’t time to “make a strong request to President Akufo-Addo to provide the Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo a different appointment as Ambassador-At-Large in Charge of the Restoration and Revitalization of Ghana’s International Brand”

He went on to say that the absentee MP had turned Ghana into a tourist destination that she only visited on rare occasions, and that there was speculation that she was no longer engaged in her ministerial or parliamentary roles.

“We wouldn’t have to spend extra government cash on perdiem and other relocation charges that other contenders for the top job will seek,” he wrote in his post.

According to him, Adwoa Safo, the former Majority Chief Whip, possesses a wealth of experience and qualities that qualify her as the best person to assist in branding Ghana to the international community, owing to her strong personality, which he claims made her a powerful and feared candidate who is “untouchable as she is.”

“While this may appear to be pretty amusing, we may want to give it serious consideration, at the very least for the sake of our shattered worldwide image,” Ablakwa concluded in his post.
