Nyantakyi Was Like An Angel Sent To Help Ghana Football – Asamoah Gyan Discloses

Former Ghana National Captain, Asamoah Gyan, has said that former Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi is an angel that Ghanaian have brought to ruin.

According to  him, Nyantakyi has done nothing but lift the face of Ghana football but he was destroyed and reduced to nothing.

Nyantakyi’s woes started after Anas Aremeyaw Anas documentary aired.

Nyantakyi was filmed appearing to take a $65,000 bribe from a supposed businessman seeking to sponsor the Ghana Premier League and is currently serving a life-time ban from football.

“He [Kwesi Nyantakyi] was like an angel sent to help Ghana Football. Let’s look at the peak he elevated our game to the world,” Asamoah Gyan said on Joy FM Super Morning Show.

”The man was mishandled and treated unfairly by Ghanaians after the so-called video exposé. We should have opened an in-depth investigation into the matter

“I have worked with him for several years and I know the kind of person, I am talking about today. He rose the highest level of world football to become Caf first-vice president and a Fifa Executive Council Member but we used less than 48 hours to bring him down.

“Our football hasn’t been better since Kwasi Nyantakyi absence. It’s very sad. Whether we like it or not, Ghana made the three appearances at the FIFA World Cup because of him,” he added.

Kwesi Nyantakyi served as Ghana Football Association President for 13 years. He also held positions such as CAF first vice president, FIFA council member and WAFU Zone B president.

Ghana’s football is currently being run by a Normalisation Committee. Their mandate is expected to end in September this year.
