NPP’s Focus Is On Winning 2024 Election Than Fixing The Economy – John Ackon

The ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) pursuit of victory in the approaching 2024 general elections is a mistaken aim that any party in authority should avoid.

According to him, the NPP should focus on improving the economy and providing development for the people while in power.

In an interview broadcast on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana show, the former Ashanti Regional Minister indicated that the administration did not consider things through before introducing signature policies such as the free Senior High School (SHS), stating that it was done for political reasons.

“Breaking an eight does not imply that you have lost your vision.” That is not the vision you should have. Let’s work for appreciation, according to your vision. … What exactly are you referring to? “We have to do double track because they didn’t think through the free SHS that started from FCUBE,” the NDC stalwart fumed.

At the time, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) opposed the program, claiming that it needed to be implemented “progressively” and dubbed it “progressive free Senior High School.”

The NPP, led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, did not follow the suggestion after gaining power from the NDC, even though some prominent members of the party signaled that the party should be made more progressive in light of the issues.
