NBU PARTNERS HACKLAB FOUNDATION IN I.T EVENT

No Business as Usual (NBU) has partnered Hacklab Foundation in the holding of a three-day event dubbed Hackaton 2019.

This partnership between the duo (NBU and Hacklab Foundation) with other organisations inclusive vis-a-vis the event in question is aimed at addressing the rate of IT graduate unemployment in the country plus other digital skills gaps in Africa.

This was premised on the reality that most IT graduates are unemployed owing to the fact they were not well prepared for employment by the time they left school.

The partnership hence the staging of the event was again to help train IT students and equip them with working experience and offer them the opportunity of getting jobs faster whiles pursuing their academic career.

Briefing THE PRESS RADIO, President for Hacklab Foundation Mr Foster Awintiti Akugri reiterated that the three day event is to help prepare the youth for future jobs.

This year’s event Hackaton 2019 is the 4th edition and witnessed the hosting of student developers from 18 tertiary institutions across the country.

Participants were were made to develop solutions around block chain technology to address local problems in Ghana.

Hub Manager for NBU Project Mr Samuel Aboagye underscored as laudable the Hackaton event which is an initiative of Hacklab Foundation.

The objectives of NBU Project he emphasised is in line with that of the latter hence the partnership.

NBU Project he averred aims at simulating youth employment and inclusive socio-economic growth and provide employable and entrepreneurial skills to 500 youth in Asokore Mampong municipality with 65% being females.

It is a 4-year project embarked within the municipality by SOS Children Villages, Asokore Mampong municipality and the European Union.
