MAHAMA FINALLY MEETS OTUMFUO AFTER BEING PERSUADED TO ACCEPT ELECTION DEFEAT BROUHAHA

Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress NDC, John Dramani Mahama has met with the Overlord of Asanteman, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II after the latter’s comment about how he persuaded then President Mahama to accept election defeat received widespread condemnation especially from NDC party members.

Information reaching this news portal indicates that the Former President has met Otumfuo Osei Tutu II behind close doors at one of the private residence of Otumfuo in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi on Thursday 3rd October, 2019 and we’re yet to disclose what was discussed to our cherished readers.

It is believed Mr Mahama wanted to settle his differences with the Asantehene after Otumfuo’s comment on how he persuaded him to step down after election 2020 defeat was greeted with insults from NDC communicators with some claiming the Asantehene should result the position he occupies and stop throwing dust into the eyes of Ghanaians

The former Chief of Staff also denied claims that his boss, former President John Dramani Mahama, was persuaded by Manhyia Palace to accept defeat in the 2016 elections.

In a public statement, he said Mr. Mahama willingly accepted defeat and congratulated then-candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“I state without equivocation that the decision to concede and congratulate Nana Akufo-Addo even before the official results were declared was taken by President Mahama himself without any persuasion from any quarter,” the statement said in part.

According to Mahama, statement from his former Chief of Staff was to make Ghanaians informed that he never had the intention of holding on to power after losing the 2016 general election.

“Clearly, Mr. Julius Debrah’s statement was intended to simply clarify that I never had the slightest intention of seeking to hang on to power unconstitutionally, as some media houses sought to infer from Otumfuo’s speech at the UN,” he added.

The King returned from the United States of America where he delivered a speech at the UN General Assembly on using traditional methods and culture to engender peace in the Ashanti Region and Ghana.

At the time of filing this story, it is believed Mr Mahama is still in Kumasi being hosted by Otumfuo in one of his private residence and he will meet with party members of the NDC to discuss important issues before leaving the city.
