Lockdown: Soldier Orders ‘Stubborn’ Driver To Walk On Knees [Video]

Most shops including food joints that were exempted from the 14-day partial lockdown, have been closed in compliance with the president’s directives to residents within Tema metropolis and Greater Accra metropolitan area.

Streets are also deserted with a few trotros and taxis in town to transport persons exempted from the restriction and those in critical need.

Though drivers have consented to the call for them to reduce number of passengers, most vehicles at terminals are virtually empty without passengers.

TV3’s Josephine Antwi-Adjei reports that a few traders have set up at the six satellite markets created by the metropolitan assembly but patronage has not been good.

Esi Benewa who monitored events in the Greater Accra metropolitan area said hawkers and even beggars are missing on the streets.

Commercial drivers are adhering to the social distance measure by taking one passenger at the front instead of two, as well as two at the back instead of three on each row.

She bumped into a scene at the Kaneshie First Light in which a recalcitrant driver who flouted the directive by doing the normal loading of passengers was stopped.

The military man who allegedly ordered him to get out of the car, made him to walk on his knees by way of cautioning the driver.
