Lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, Dr. Kofi Adu has stated that per the laws of Ghana, landlords are to pay a tax of 4.5% on rent to tenants.

Dr. Kofi Adu speaking with Kwame Appiah Kubi on Kessben Maakye said it has become impunity on the part of landlords to take rent money from tenants without paying a tax component of 4.5% from the advance sum taken.

Dr. Kofi Adu encouraged tenants to insist that the landlords take out the tax component of any agreed sum between them and ensure the tax is paid.

He blamed the Rent Control Department of the ministry of works and housing for being silent of the LI.
