Kufour’s ‘fatherly’ advice to John Mahama gives ‘clear hint’ that Supreme Court may rule against NDC

Former President of Ghana John Agyekum Kufour has asked the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to accept the verdict of the election petition if it doesn’t go their way, giving a hint that the judgement could go sour for NDC.

According to him, they have four years to go back to the drawing board and make things right in the next election so they should take whatever verdict from the Supreme Court in good faith.

The former President was speaking on Accra-based Accra FM when he made this plea known.

“Let’s all accept the verdict of the supreme court. Taking an entrenched position to reject the verdict will not help anybody,” he said.

“In 2013, the NPP did same by going to court but after the verdict, although Akufo-Addo disagreed he accepted it and worked with it for the sake of the country’s peace. Just as Akufo-Addo did, I advise my brothers in the NDC to accept the verdict if it doesn’t go the way they want it, we’ll plead with them to accept it,” he added

“Elections are organised every four years if it doesn’t go your way this time, you may get it in the next four years so let us give peace a chance,” the former Ghanaian leader advised.
