Heavy Rainfall Leaves Hundreds of People Homeless At Ajumako-Ochiso

According to some reports and information reaching our desk had it that, with the recent heavy rainfall all over the country, some dwellers or people are not finding it easy at all and among those badly affected are the people of Ajumako-Ochiso in the Ajumako Enyan-Essiam District of the Central Region.
Per the reports, as around the hours of 2:30am in the dawn yesterday, inhabitants living close to the banks of river Etwe from Etsifi through to Ahenbrom have to wake up to start packing baggage to protect their properties and lives and to vacate their rooms for river Etwe to occupy.

Speaking in an interview with Richly Kofi-Baah Paintsil on Parrot 99.7fm in Sunyani, the assemblyman for Ochiso South Electoral Area, Hon. Maxwell Mensah disclose that;

The scene is very pathetic. I wonder how some of them are even going to spend the night.But this problem is not something new which mostly happens every seven years. It is more or less an annual ritual. What worries me is that this year’s situation is very devastating and my fear is that the rain has just started”

He disclose as of the time of the interview that, some officials from the district’s National Disaster and Management Organization (NADMO), the District Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Ransford Kwasi Nyarko, and the Member of Parliament for the Constituency, Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson had all been at the scene to take some records and pictures about the unfortunate incidence.

Hon. Maxwell Mensah further disclosed that, about 34 inhabitants of the town have been completely displaced and rendered homeless with some cocoa farms affected as well. He furthered used the opportunity to call on government, the district assembly and all stakeholders to come to the aid of the town to help fix the main bridge that serve as a leading drive front into the town which has been damaged for some years ago to curb this unfortunate occurrence.
