Genser Energy Ghana Supports Education In The Western Regions

Genser Energy Ghana Limited (“Genser”), an Independent Power Producing company has donated a hundred dual and single school desks to Nkronua Methodist D/A Primary and Junior High School, and the Merewa Methodist D/A Primary and Junior High School last week at both Merewa and Nkronua towns within the Sefwi Anweaso and New Obuasi Districts respectively.

Michael Jojo Smith, the Head of Community Relations for Genser indicated that the donation comes as part of the company’s broader corporate social responsibility initiatives to support communities where Genser currently operates its natural gas pipeline project.

“Genser strives to maintain a healthy relationship between the communities where we operate and positively contribute towards the development of the farmer and their families”, he added and pledged the company’s willingness to extend the gesture to the neighbouring communities.

Receiving the desks on behalf of the community, the chief of Merewa, Nana Appiagyei expressed their appreciation towards the company for the gesture and thanked Genser for responding to the plea of the communities.

According to the chief, “the school desk donation will help improve education in the area as well as motivate the children to be always present in school.”
He also affirmed the community’s willingness to support their operations and called on other corporate institutions to assist the community as Genser has done.

The Assemblymember for Merewa community, Hon. Abu Arthur Eric thanked Genser for the donation and urged members of the community to support and protect the pipeline at any cost. He also encouraged community members to be a part of Genser’s change and transformation agenda in the community.

Mr. John Nzeh, The Municipal Educational Supervisor for Bibiani-Anweaso-Bekwai Municipal indicated that the district is impressed with the gestures of Genser and encouraged the company to extend this to other neighboring communities.

Genser Energy, which operates in the Western and Western North Regions has currently constructed about 320km natural gas pipeline from Prestea through Tarkwa, Damang, Edikan to Wassa. Genser will be undertaking another 105km natural pipeline construction from Dawusaso to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region where the Ameri Power Plant will be relocated in the future.
