Empire Cement Limited Loses 1D1F Status – Alan Kyerematen

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, has stated that the Ministry has postponed approval of Empire Cement Limited’s 1D1F status, which is located at Weija Junction in Accra.

In response to a question about Empire Cement’s status, the Minister stated that when the company applied to the EPA, the Agency determined that the proposal was incompatible with adjacent land users and urged the company not to build the factory there.

After that, the company reapplied to switch from cement manufacturing to cement bag manufacturing.

The EPA cancelled its permit after learning that a cement manufacturing plant was being built instead of cement bags. “Empire Cement has not been licensed to manufacture cement, but rather cement bags,” Mr. Kyerematen explained.
