Details emerge about how NAM1 cleverly hid his face upon arrival in Ghana

It’s been understood that Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM1, covered his face with clothing in a bid to hide his bushy hair and an unkempt moustache.

The businessman returned to Ghana on Thursday, July 11, 2019, after a trial in the United Arab Emirates.

He was seen wearing an ash sweat suit with a hood which covered his face to avoid recognition.

Per a report by graphic.com.gh, NAM1, who is alleged to have defrauded about 16,000 people of more than GH¢1.68 billion, was spotted with security officials.

Upon his arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, via Emirates Airline flight EK787 at 10:58 am on Thursday, July 11, 2019, his hands were handcuffed behind him.

He was however whisked away by security officers from Interpol Ghana and the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI).

YEN.com.gh understands that he was flanked by two policemen with other security officials following closely behind.

NAM1 reportedly limped and he managed to make it to the offices of the Financial Forensic Unit (FFU) on the first floor of the CID Headquarters.

He soon pulled off the hood to reveal his bushy hair and unkept moustache, as he awaited the arrival of his two lawyers, Messrs Kwame Akufo and Kofi Supremo.

He was arraigned at the Accra Circuit Court on Friday morning and was into police custody to reappear before the court on July 26, 2019.

The court, presided over by Jane Helen Akweley Quaye, remanded NAM 1 after the police prosecutors prayed for his remand to aid investigations.

In another report, a prosecution witness in the trial of suspected murderers of the late Major Maxwell Mahama, ACP Baffour Apenteng Nyamekye, has been involved in an accident.

The Accra High Court was informed that ACP Nyamekye, who gave his evidence in chief and was cross-examined as the 12th prosecution witness, was informed in the accident but discharged on Monday, July 10, 2019.

The chief state attorney, Evelyn Keelson, informed the court that she briefly interacted with the witness and prayed the court for an adjournment.
