COVID-19: Let’s observe precautions and pray to God to save us – Tongraana

The overlord of the Talensi Traditional Area Tongraan Naab Kugbilson Nalebegtang has admonished people in his traditional area and the country at large to comply with the hygiene and safety protocols prescribed by health experts in the wake of the outbreak of the deadly Corona Virus.

In the assertions of the revered traditional ruler, the devastating impact of COVID-19 demonstrates the vulnerability of humanity and the need to seek Godly intervention and leniency in addition to human efforts that are being made to bring the ravages of the disease under control.

While expressing his deep worries over the already confirmed cases in Ghana, the Paramount Chief said it is his prayer that the numbers do not escalate, but that according to him can be achieved if the necessary precautionary measures are complied with.

“I personally pray that the numbers should not increase and that we should be able to contain it as much as we can. We should also ensure that we pray to the Almighty God to save the world if mankind has done something wrong, we should be forgiven so that at least He [God] will allow us life” he said in an interview on Bolgatanga based Yem Radio monitored by Ghanawish.com

In an admonition to the human race, he noted further that “this is a lesson to all of us to know that we are not super. If you listen to what is happening in America and other places, you would see that we are just human and nothing. I’m very worried and we all have to put our hands and pray to the Almighty to save us”.

The Talensi Traditional Area truncated the celebration of its annual Golob festival following the decision of the President to suspend public gatherings including religious gatherings, festivals, funerals and other social gatherings.

According to the Tongraana, truncating the week long celebration midway was necessary to ensure the safety and protection of the people of the Talensi area from the dangers of the spread of the Corona Virus.

“We were supposed to have the Gol-Naara at the Tongraana’s palace but we had to cancel it completely” he said.

The overlord disclosed that all Divisional and Sub-chiefs in the Talensi Traditional area have been directed to ensure that no mass gatherings take place in their areas and also to ensure compliance with all related directives and precautions in the fight against COVID-19.
