Court finally rules on Takoradi fake pregnant woman & kidnapping case

A Takoradi District Court A has ruled on the case involving Josephine Panyin Mensah, a resident of Takoradi for faking a pregnancy and kidnap.

She has been charged with two counts of deceiving a public officer contrary to section 251(B) of the Criminal Offences Act and publication of false news with intent to cause fear and panic contrary to section 208(1) of the Criminal Offences Act.

On the first count the court found her not guilty.

According to her, ingredients to solidify the first charge were missing.

On the second count the court found her guilty but only fined her 600 penalty units which is GH₵7,200.00.

According to the presiding judge it was due to her pregnancy situation that resulted in the 600 penalty units fine.

She has up to 14 days to pay.
