Corruption Was Better Managed Under John Mahama Than Akufo-Addo – Dr Asah-Asante

Despite President Akufo-Addo’s assurances that the country would improve during the NPP Delegates Conference last year, nothing concrete has been observed.

Many economic institutions have downgraded the country’s economy since the beginning of the year. The country’s current grade is a C, the lo west it has ever been.

Dr. Asah-Asante, a Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, lamented the country’s current economic woes on The Keypoints. He explained that, despite the NPP’s many promises made during the past election, things have not improved.

He stated again that corruption was the third most important influence in the country’s voting trends. Ghanaians, he claims, voted for a better, less corrupt administration, but this government has failed miserably.

”NPP had fared worse than the former John Mahama government, which was chastised for being corrupt. In comparison to the Akufo-Addo-led government, he noted, John Mahama seemed to have managed the economy better and dealt with corruption with a firm hand”.

He urged the government to perform better and deal with corrupt agencies because Ghana’s economy appears to be unstable, and nothing good can be expected given the current state of affairs. He concluded that, while he supports the E-levy, he believes the government should address corruption first and save the country money.
