Commercial bus drivers who accept passengers without face masks to be sanctioned

The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council says commercial bus drivers who accept passengers without face masks will be sanctioned.

In a statement copied to Ghanawish, the Council said the mandatory wearing of face masks must be adhered to strictly.

“Following this release, the Security Services will deal with anyone who fails to adhere to this directive of mandatory wearing of face masks.”

The move is in line with President Akufo-Addo’s directive for all Ghanaians to wear face masks in public in order to curtail the spread of coronavirus in the country.

The Council has also suspended all special market days in all communities within the region indefinitely.

Daily market activities, however, can go on as usual in the various communities, a statement copied to Ghanawish said.

The Council also directed all residents and commuters in the region to wear face masks as all times when the market, hospital, shops, restaurants, banks, workplaces, on commercial vehicles and other public places.

Street hawkers, especially those who do so in traffic and wayside food vendors are also mandated to wear face masks.
