After appealing their two-year UEFA Champions League ban, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have now found out their European fate following an official ruling.
Pep Gives An Update On City UEFA Ban
In February this year, the Citizens were handed a two-year ban from competing in Europe, while they were also slapped with a reported fine of £24.9 million (R526 million).
These punishments came after the club was found guilty of “serious breaches” of Financial Fair Play regulations, and resulted in many of City’s first-team players being linked with other clubs, as well as Guardiola’s future in England being thrown into doubt.
The Switzerland-based Court of Arbitration for Sport heard City’s appeal, and have now officially announced that their ban has been overturned and that the club will only have to pay a fine of £8 million (R189 million).
City’s hierarchy have always denied any wrongdoing following the charges in February.
