Bono East NDC chairmanship race: Former Deputy Edu. Minister defeated

Unass Owusu has been elected as the new regional chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the newly created Bono Region region beaten among his contenders a former deputy education minister Alex Kyeremeh.

He garnered 118 votes at an election held at Kintampo yesterday.

He defeated the former Deputy Education Minister, Hon Alex Kyeremeh, Mudah Sulemana and George Monteho with 83, 85 and 47 votes respectively.

Mr. Mohammed Shamsudeen Ali who was elected as the Secretary polled 177.

The Chairman in his speech after the victory pledged his readiness to work harder to ensuring that Bono East becomes the “IMF” of the NDC in terms of elections in the country. “If Volta Region is World Bank of NDC in election, I will work hard for Bono East to also become NDC’s IMF”.

He said. He called for collective effort to achieving the task ahead of NDC to recapture power come 2020 elections.
