52 persons arrested for flouting COVID-19 safety protocols

The Dunkwa Divisional Police Command in the Upper Denkyira East of the Central Region has arrested 52 people for flouting the law on facemask wearing.

Speaking to the media, the Police Commander DSP Edmund Affutu said, the move is to enforce the directives on the observation of COVID-19 protocols.

He urged the general public to strictly adhere to the pandemic safety rules to curb the spread of the virus in the country.

President Nana Akufo-Addo in his latest COVID-19 update Sunday directed the security agencies to undertake random checks to ensure strict compliance to the safety protocols.

Out of a total of 58,822 confirmed coronavirus cases in Ghana, 56,286 persons have either recovered or been discharged.

The current case count stands at 2,178 with 358 deaths.
