JUST IN: Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen Resigns

Minister for Trade and Industry Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen has resigned from the government.

The minister is said to have tendered his resignation letter to President Nana Akufo-Addo on Thursday, Jan 5, 2023, Joy News reports.

He leaves the position after serving in the office for 6 years, having been sworn in by Akufo-Addo in 2017.

Kyerematen who is popularly called ‘Alan Cash’ has long been rumoured to be nursing the ambition to contest the flagbearership slot of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

His resignation comes months before the NPP opens nominations for the flagbearer race.

Alan Kyerematen is one of the ministers Akufo-Addo has commended consistently for leading one of the government’s flagship programmes – the one district, one factory (1D1F).
