The member of parliament for North Tongu constituency in the Volta Region, Honorable Okudzeto Ablakwa, has touted himself for being genuine and truthful to his constituents when it comes to political promises.
Speaking to Sena Nombo on the Alhaji and Alhaji show on Pan African TV, he hit hard at the vice president for promising Ghanaians and failing to fulfil those promises. His comments were in relation to the current state of tattered security the country endures.
According to him, our hard earn reputation for being the beacon of democracy would be washed out if we continue to be in this state of security crisis. “God forbid if this country finds itself in a state of insecurity, who will go to parliament, who will go to court to adjudicate on cases, which doctor will go to the hospitals, who will send his children to school? He quizzed
However we have top ranking government officials including the vice president who contribute to the poor state of our security. “You know the vice president, his excellency Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is good at making big talks and promises. You would recall our vice president, who is the chairman of the police council making promises to the police council at the funeral of a policeman who was killed that the government would provide bulletproof vests to police officers across the country. Up till now those jerseys have not been provided. I am in parliament and we have not received any contract to purchase those vests. That is why I don’t promise my people, if I have anything to do, I just do it.”
He said the state security is an institution that needs special attention and investment. Because these are people who risk their lives to protect and defend us. “Government has spend our money on strengthening our security and stop spending on luxurious aircraft.”
