Residents of Manso takes to the middle of their road to dig for gold after ban on ‘Galamsey’

A ban has been placed on illegal mining, commonly called in Ghana as ‘galamsey’ by the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.

As a result, the Ghana Armed Forces are on operation of burning any mining equipment they come across at a mining site, including the excavators.

However, some residents in Manso Tontokrom in the Ashanti region have turned their attention to mining in the middle of their road.

They claim they can not stand the hardship in the country and are hungry.

Therefore, they had no option than to destroy the road looking for gold and later accuse the president for not fixing their roads.

Video of how they have digged down the middle of a supposed road for cars has emerged.
