I Never Said Definitely that Mahama Has Won the Election – Asiedu Nketia

Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, has denied ever declaring John Dramani Mahama as the winner of the 2020 presidential election.

In his second day in the box as a witness for the petitioner, Mr. Asiedu Nketia has been on the end of cross-examination.

He was asked by the lead counsel of the respondent, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the ongoing 2020 Presidential Election petition to verify some statements made by he and some members of the NDC. These statements were made immediately after the election results had been declared by the Electoral Commission.

This occurred after a video of himself and some party leaders of the NDC addressing the press was played in court. The video contained footage of the persons mentioned indicating that the NDC had won the presidential elections.

In response to questions asked whether he and his party members had any implication to declare their candidate as the winner of the election, he answered, “I never said definitely that the petitioner has won the election.”
