How one person infected 533 colleagues with coronavirus at Tema factory

It is emerging that one person succeeded in infecting 533 of his colleagues with coronavirus at a popular factory in Tema in the Greater Accra Region

President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo in giving clarity to the astronomical rise in the number of infections on Friday said Ghana’s number of positive cases shot from 3,019 to 4012 in the Ghana Health Service update on COVID-19 as a result of this.

Speaking in his ninth address to the country, the President gave clarity to the figures that got most Ghanaians worried on Friday despite assurances from a section of health experts that the country had peaked

He noted that there was an increase of 921 but said out of the number, 533 was recorded from a fish processing factory in Tema.

The President said one worker infected all the 533 people have now tested positive for the virus.

“It is important to stress that five hundred and thirty-three (533) out of the nine hundred and twenty-one (921) new cases recorded between last Wednesday and Thursday are factory workers from a fish processing factory 2 located in Tema. All five hundred and thirty-three (533) persons were infected by one (1) person.”

He added further that “Again, let me reiterate that these new nine hundred and twenty-one (921) cases were from backlogs dating as far back as 26th April, and not necessarily over a twenty-four (24) hour window”.

Ghana’s case count currently sits at 4,700 with 22 patients dead and 5 persons in critical condition.
