Dwellers of Keleku Appeals for new Market

Residents of Keleku in the Nkwanta South District of Oti Region, are calling for the immediate construction of a new market for the community.

The residents who are predominantly farmers and traders noted that, the unstructured nature and state of the facility they use as a market place is affecting their businesses and income.

A trader who spoke with Michael Kwadzo Ahiaku of Bridge news on grounds of anonymity said “After harvesting our crops, we bring them to the market for sale. But looking at how the whole market place is, it’s difficult for people to come and buy for us”.

“The structure of the market is not suitable for trading especially when it rains or any other day.” another trader revealed.

Conditions at the market are not favourable and if nothing is done, about 200 – 300 people could loose their source of livelihood.

Traders also bemoaned the state of the major road leading to the market and called on authorities for immediate construction of the market and the road as they are willing to provide any necessary services to facilitate the work.
