Teachers Ordered To Pay Rent For occupying Government Bungalows

Teachers in the Western Region have been warned that occupying government bungalows will result in a 10% penalty from their wages, according to the Ghana Education Service.

Mrs. Felicia Agyeibea Okai, the Director of Education in the Western Region, alluded to a Ministry of Finance circular dated 15th May 2006 in conjunction with the payment in a letter seen.

Teachers who work in either a school or a government bungalow, according to her, are obliged to pay ten percent of their base wage to live in the government residence.

“As a result, I write to inform you that, beginning March 1, 2022, all Teachers/Staff occupying School/Government bungalows will be required to pay 10% of their basic salary,” she reiterated.
