Taxpayers Incur GH¢33bn In Financial Sector Clean-up

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has revealed that the cost incurred by taxpayers in the financial sector clean-up is estimated at about GH¢ 33 billion.

The Minister is presenting the 2020 Budget Statement and Economic policy of the Akufo-Addo’s government in Parliament.

The financial sector clean-up has led to the closure of a number of banks, Microfinance Institutions, fund management firms.

According to the Minister, the banking sector is rising again after the clean up.

“The economy has seen a miraculous turnaround, moving now in the right direction,” he said.
