Part of Bolgatanga hospital to be closed as pregnant woman tests positive

From Monday, the newborn care unit of the Bolgatanga hospital will be closed down until further notice.

The facility has already stopped taking in new patients.

This follows a 33-year-old pregnant woman who has now tested positive for the Coronavirus, having early on been admitted at the facility.

Though hospital authorities are yet to officially speak on the matter, Joy News sources at the hospital have revealed tow doctors and a number of midwives and nurses who attended to the woman have also been asked to self-isolate.

Reports had also indicated the woman I question had absconded from the hospital but a statement released by the upper east regional Coordinating Council has denied this, indicating she is in admission at the hospital and showing signs of recovery.
