Deputy Speaker Deserves Hot Slap To Stop Misbehaving – Asiedu Nketiah

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has suggested that Joseph Osei-Owusu, the first deputy speaker of parliament, deserves a slap to keep him in check in parliament.

The NDC’s General Secretary, speaking to the NDC Ashanti Youth wing in Kumasi over the weekend, explained why slapping the “biased” Deputy Speaker of Parliament is a good idea when he decides to preside in an un-parliamentary legal style to serve his party’s interests.

“As long as impunity continues, resistance has been put on us as a responsibility,” he said.

“So if a Deputy Speaker who is supposed to be a referee takes on the role of a player on the pitch and decides to participate in penalty kicks in a game, you don’t hesitate to hit him,” the main opposition’s General Scribe advised the NDC youth wing.

Meanwhile, Kwame Pianim, an economist and New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporter, has stated that he will refuse to give Members of Parliament the title of ‘Honourable’ due to their recent rowdy behavior in the House.

Mr Pianim told Ghanaians at the unveiling of the John Evans Atta-Mills Memorial Heritage in Accra on Tuesday that the global controversy will have a negative impact on Ghana’s reputation.

“I now refuse to address any Parliamentarian as honourable. (They are) dimming Ghana’s bright brand as a beacon of democracy so I will not address any of them as honourable until they apologize to the nation,” he said.
