Afcon 2019: I’m “gutted” by Black Stars exit – Akufo-Addo speaks

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said he is “gutted” by the exit of the Black Stars from the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament ongoing in Egypt.

Tunisia beat Ghana on penalties to set up an Afcon quarter-final with Madagascar after a 1-1 draw.

Goalkeeper Farouk Ben Mustapha was the hero, coming on for the shootout and saving Caleb Ekuban’s penalty.

Reacting to the exit of the Black Stars Nana Akufo-Addo who had earlier charged the team to return home with the trophy, however, expressed confidence that the team will bounce back even stronger.

“Like most Ghanaians, I am gutted by the exit of the Black Stars at Afcon 2019. I wish the team better luck next time. I am confident they will bounce back even stronger, and make all of us proud once again,” Nana Akufo-Addo tweeted.
