Locals to demonstrate over Komenda Sugar Factory neglect

A group of locals calling itself the concerned youth of Komenda has served notice of a planned demonstration scheduled for Friday, July 6, 2021, at Komenda in the Central region.

“The focus of our intended demonstration is to create public awareness about the unceasing deterioration of the New Komenda Sugar Factory as a consequence of its neglect by the authorities whose duty it is to ensure its operationalization after it was commissioned on the 30th of May, 2016,” a correspondence issued by the Organizers of the planned protest to the Local Police said.

At least Two thousand (2000) people are expected to participate in this demonstration, according to the Organizers.

“Our notification is pursuant to Section 1 clause 1 of the Public Order Act, 1994(Act 491),” a copy of the letter addressed to the Regional Police Commander said.
