CK Akonnor appointed interim Black Stars coach after Kwesi Appiah sacking

Ex-Ghana captain CK Akonnor will take temporary charge of the Black Stars until a substantive coach is appointed, Ghanawish.com understands.

The former Asante Kotoko steps in after the Ghana Football Association dissolved the technical team of all national teams including the senior national team.

Akonnor will start the process of preparing the team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which begin in March.

He had quite a journey in coaching on the local scene as he handled clubs like Eleven Wise, Hearts of Oak, Dreams FC and AshantiGold.

In November, he named as a member of Kwesi Appiah’s backroom staff for the two 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe.
